Overview
Pushkar is one of the famous attractions & oldest city in India. It is located to the northwest of Ajmer. The city of Pushkar is home to the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma in the whole world. It gains important among spiritual travelers, who aim to have a holy dip in the lake, which is considered a holy place and the king of ‘Tirthas’. It is believed that having a holy dip is here equivalent to doing meditation and prayer for a hundred years.
Hinduism believed that Lord Brahma is the creator and worship him. In spite of the important attached to Lord brahma, Brahma Temple is most famous temple in all over India. The temple and its surroundings are unique. The temple Structure is built of marble and it is beautiful. Though Pushkar has many temples, Brahma temple stands apart for its magnificence.
Savitri temple is one of the most visited temples in the city. It is a part of an interesting legend and is one of the few temples dedicated to goddess Savitri, the first wife of Lord Brahma.
Apteshwar Temple was famously built by Lord Brahma himself to appease Lord Shiva. It is built right next to Brahma temple inside a cave and can be easily visited enroute to Brahma Temple.
Among one of the very rare temple devoted to the varaha incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Varaha temple is worth a visit due to its uniqueness.
Rangji Temple is an amalgamation of Mughal, Rajput and South Indian architecture. This temple is devoted to an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Rangji and is always filled with worshippers.
Pushkar is also known as for its rose farming. The farmers, here, grow rose extensively and the diversities of this flower grown here, are exported all over the world.
Ajmer is the nearest railway station (11 km) — Pink City Express and Shatabdi Express are the best trains to opt for while traveling to Ajmer from Delhi and Jaipur. There are direct buses between Pushkar and Ajmer (30 minutes, INR 20), Jaipur (3 hours, INR 220-410). It is only 147 km by road from Jaipur.
